NetCologne, a local German network operator that offers fixed and mobile telephony, cable TV, broadband and data centre hosting to residential and business customers, is using Telsis technology to roll out IP-based inbound services for enterprise businesses.
Telsis has upgraded its Ocean Services Platform in NetCologne’s Telecoms Application Server in a hybrid setup that enables additional value added services to be rolled out on geographic and non-geographic numbers to enterprises that are already on, or will be migrated soon onto NetCologne’s next generation all-IP connections.
The upgrade, which enhances the previous legacy technology that has been in operation since 2005, is now fully integrated into NetCologne’s environment, enabling the company to offer all-IP value-added services to its business customers connected to the next generation network. Simplification and consolidation have been the key drivers in the ongoing replacement of legacy core network components with a view to migrating all business customers to IP services.
A big challenge in the upgrade was making changes to the existing infrastructure, such as web front-end, provisioning and database structure with minimal disruption to services. Working closely with NetCologne, Telsis integrated the new software, covering different aspects such as billing integration, customer SIP signalling messages and future enhancement options.
Frank Ewen, NetCologne’s Head of Switching and Voice Platform, commented: “This upgrade has given us the foundation for a reliable and extremely flexible telecoms application server and enables us to deploy the additional features, services and functionality that our customers are demanding.”
Peter Ritzmann, Managing Director of Telsis GmbH added: “The Telsis technology handles all value- added services (geographic and non-geographic numbers) for business customers and enables NetCologne to broaden its customer base into the demanding enterprise sector. The long partnership and close co-operation we have had with NetCologne enabled us to fully understand their requirements and deliver on our promised timescales. We expect to work on more exciting and challenging projects that add additional value to NetCologne’s services in the future.”
